My copy of Windows forced me to reactivate it today, despite my not having
reinstalled Windows or altered the hardware. The telephone support line
finally got me through to a person (it wouldn't detect my internet connection
and an ID hadn't been generated, so I couldn't use the automated system) who
was abrupt and really quite rude. She was reading off a script, which made
things difficult (if I had the info she wanted, I could have used the
automated system) and wasn't interested in offering any explanation for what
was going on. I'm a newbie, so I had no idea what was going on. She didn't
care.

Back in September (over 5 months ago), I emailed an enquiry about Windows
Update not working on my computer. I followed all the troubleshooting and
online advice and it didn't help at all. I got an automated response,
followed by a response from an engineer saying that they were looking into my
case. That was it. I haven't heard from them since. I've emailed several
times to enquire how they're getting on and all I get back is an automated
response.

Just today, I rang the number given on the Microsoft website and followed
the options for general enquiries. It cut me off.

There is an activation file on your system that tells windows the install has
been activated, 'wpa.dbl'. Your hard drive may be failing (or whatever), and
you lost that file.

If you're just looking for a place to complain about MS customer service,
you're shouting down a well, here. This is strictly a volunteer
'peer-to-peer' resource.
