Here is my scenrio.
My 'working solution' first, just to let you know I am aware of this type of
solution - I don't like it though! is to use eFAX
I have a laptop (downstairs) with no phone jack around where I use it
(living room) I access the 'net using a dlink wireless going to my cable
modem.
A phone jack is near the cable modem
I need to fax documents (200 - 400 pages a month, and I like to send a copy
to myself, so this number could be doubled) on a regular basis from my
computer, and efax is charging me an arm and a leg ($0.10 a page....minimum
of $40 a month on top of their monthly fee))
Is there anything that would work for me?
Ideas that I thought I would be able to find are something like:
a fax modem that is able to connect to the computer via wifi
a fax modem that is able to connect to the computer via bluetooth (I
could use the phone jack in the kitchen 15 feet way)
a wireless access point that has a modem built in.
But I have not found anything like this out in the real world!
I do not need to recieve faxes on this same line (I use FAX WAVE for this,
and have for over seven years, but they don't offer outgoing service)
Thanks,
Bruce
