JunkMonkey

I tried something called Spampal that sounded very promising, but it was
REAL flakey. I've gotten the same spam email messages over and over with
it, lost a few real email messages, and it is incredibly slow.

So I'm in the market. Preferably freeware or low-cost ware, but I'll
consider anything that works well. And I would prefer one that is not too
intrusive to the workflow and can be used either in a corporate network
environment or on a standalone PC.

I'm currently using Outlook Express as my client software as I need to
maintain compatibility with an extremely key client of my own, I will
probably switch to Outlook itself in the next couple of months as they are
upgrading to it shortly. So the spamware needs to be able to recognize the
other Outlook database records and deal with them appropriately.

Regards and TIA

Not sure if you want server side or client side but these are client side.
K9 or POPfile. Both are discussed and the program authors respond in
news.grc.com news server in grc.spam newsgroup.
http://www.keir.net/k9.html
http://popfile.sourceforge.net/

Mailwasher Pro is good and has the ability to use spam blocklists and can
delete spam without it having to be fully downloaded to the client.

Thanks YK, I'll look these products up. I do currently want client side
apps, but I am open to serverside apps as I can foresee my client getting
fed up with the amount of spam they are going to have to deal with in the
near future.

You should try to use The_Bat! as your mailer and the Bayesit Spam Plugin.
Works GREAT!!!

Actually I'm in the process of switching from Mailwasher to Spampal with the
Baysian plugin. I'll post results when I know more.

It's really good... but if you do run into trouble setting it up, don't forget
to look here: http://www.spampal.org/docs.html

You can, if you really want to, use mailwasher and spampal together...

Cheers,
