i am looking for freeware that can allows to lock or hid a windows folder so
that people can see it or access to it without authorisation. thanks

Someone recommended this the other day. I haven't tried it myself. The

freeware version only allows one to lock four folders.

I use http://axcrypt.sourceforge.net/ This open source freeware program
allows you to encrypt any file and set a password for it through the
right-click context menu. It is a very small program, but highly effective.

Can't you just do this in windows? Set attribute to read-only & pw protect
Unless I've missed something

Sorry, I didn't catch what OS you're using. If it's W95/98/ME you can
try Hide Folder;

I use it and it works fine in 98. The free version only allows two
directories but you can nest multiple ones under them.

How do you do the password protectin windows?
