hi there,

is there any freeware telnet client?

regards

Here are a few in addition to Putty and Tera Term Pro - HperTerminal
PE, IVT, and EasyTerm. I use HyperTerminal occasionally now (an
almost arbitrary and slightly capricious selection) and used to use
the other two. A few key considerations: what terminal emulation do
you need (ANSI, block mode, VT320)? Unicode? Network protocols?

Please let us know what you found if you research telnet clients.

HyperTerminal Private Edition - This excellent free program offers a
more powerful version of the HyperTerminal program that comes with
Windows. HyperTerminal PE, on its surface, seems almost identical to
HyperTerminal (except for its animated banner screen). Both are speedy
32-bit programs that take full advantage of the Windows 95 and NT 4.0
interface and key features, such as TAPI (Telephony API ) and Unimodem
universal modem support. The website has a page of features.

IVT - Simple, fast, clean telnet. IVT is a VT220 terminal emulator
(VTTEST score is 109/110) for Windows 95/98, Windows NT, Windows 2000,
Windows XP and MS/DOS that can set up a Winsock/TELNET, NetBios,
RLOGIN, or serial connection to a remote host. The Kerberos code is
now removed from the freeware version: a virtually identical
commercial version (IVT Secure System Access) is available from
www.finallysoftware.com. Multi-session, single-window, even on
MS/DOS, even on serial lines. Simple yet powerful scripting language
with auto-learn login module. Supports encrypting files for safe
storage of passwords used during login. IVT is very suitable for batch
processes with many features in the scripting language to deal with
errors, timeouts, unexpected situations and so on. Roughly 350 pages
of on-line, mouse-navigatable hypertext manual. (Freeware)

EasyTerm - A very nice, fully-featured sockets-enabled Telnet terminal
program. Supports many protocols besides Telnet, such as SMTP and
POP3. EasyTerm emulates a DEC VT100 terminal and supports ANSI colors.
EasyTerm will log your entire session, supports clipboard transfers,
and will print the current display. It also remembers up to 32 hosts
and protocols.
