I don't think it downloads attachments, though.

In any case yahoogroups stopped storing attachments that are sent in
posted messages. Attachments are distributed over email when the
message is initially posted, but won't be archived.

The best thing to do would be this.

1) set your group/s membership preferences to send individual messages to either your Yahoo
email address or your normal POP3 address (you do have the option with Yahoo groups to use more
than 1 email address).

2.a) If you set it for your Yahoo email address, either just log in normally via your browser to
collect your messages, or use YahooPOPs to download them (including attachments) to your PC. I
think YahooPOPs will allow you to delete the messages you don't want to download.

or

2.b) If you set it to send messages to your normal POP3 address, the messages will arrive just
like any other email with attachments. I would then recommend that you use a program like
Mailwasher or Popcorn to intercept & delete messages you don't want directly on the server to
save you from downloading them.

Finally, if you do get messages sent to your POP3 account, have a look at the the number & type
of messages you could expect from a group within a 24 hour period. I learnt the hard way when I
joined up with a group & so many attachments were posted that my ISP started bouncing messages
sent to me because my mailbox was full - and thatwas only within a 12 hour period.
