My friend has MS ME on her machine and MS Paint doesn't work because
of DLL problem. She doesn't have the CD for re-install so does any one
have any suggestions for an alternative to MS Paint?

I have some old COREL cd's but don't know if there is anything on
there.

Any suggestions appreciated.

Add Functionality To MS Paint!

Do you occasionally do some light graphics editing? MS Paint is
remarkably good at minor stuff
that is just too cumbersome for larger graphics editors.
Unfortunately, depending on the
particulars of your Win9x installation, you may find that you can
only save your edits as
bitmaps. And that's if you can edit them at all; some MS Paint
installations won't even open a
GIF file, much less edit it. But here is a way to enhance MS Paint so
that you can edit GIFs,
JPGs as well as BMP files. The trick is to use an older version of
the MS Paint executable.
This is how to do it:

Download Paint95.zip
http://www.pcnineoneone.com/tweaks/Paint95.zip

to a temporary directory. Make note of where you've stored it.
Open , Windows Explorer > View > Folder Options > View ,
click on
Show all files , click on OK . Now go to C:\Program Files\Accessories
and locate Mspaint.exe.
Copy Mspaint.exe to C:\Windows\Sysbckup. Now you have a back up of
Paint in case you are unhappy with the results if this tweak.
Now unzip the file you just downloaded to C:\Program
Files\Accessories, overwriting your
standard OEM version of Mspaint.exe.
The next time you launch Paint you should be able to edit a broader
range of graphics files.

One caveat: It is Windows 200/XP only, and needs the .NET expansion
installed.

I'm running XP Home with SP2. Is the .NET expansion part of this
package? If not, how can I tell if I've got it? If I don't have it,
how do I get it?

Thanks

Glenn

All versions of XP include the .NET runtime. You should not need to
download it.

I think you're wrong... I had to install it. I had win xp home oem. I had to
install .net 1.0, and when I updated to sp2 I installed .net 1.1 (actual
release)

Ditto.

I see that your software makes MS Paint look *better*:

nosbig, I have tested Babya PhotoWorkshop Professional XL and it does
support tablets on the image canvas-like my Wacom Graphire 3
Rating: 5/5

well hes back! with an app that makes MS paintlook good. why oh why
dosent this guy read his reviews and take note I cant find a 0 on the
rating so have to put 1

also cant find the unique features that are unavailable to Photoshop and
fireworks users (and it dont support pressure sensitve devices)
Rating: 1/5

But that 'babyapartnership' looks rather suspect!

You (Babya) have been promoted to "everybody's fool". (level 3 of a
possible 3)
