After reading all threads, can't find any answer how to fix remote desktop
after SP2 install. Even disabled firewall and still can't connect. This is
ridiculous - an upgrade distroyed my ability to work remotely. Anyone ever
used GoToMyPC.com?

Need more details on your setup. I use RDC, SP2, and Windows firewall with
no problems. I'm also behind a NAT router.

Sorry - dialing directly into desktop running XP Media (pro) on MS SBS 2003
from remote computer running XP Pro. Remote Desktop worked fine until I
installed SP2. Tried disabling Widnows Firewall, no luck. Tried misc.
adjustments listed on this board (except changing registry, don't understand
ports) but nothing seems to work. Apparently this is haunting laot of people.

Do you use a router?

Technically yes, I'm on a network, but I'm dialing into a workstation, not
the server, when using RD.

Well let me explain that I'm not familiar with dial-up connecting into a
RDC. I use a cable connection and XP Pro. That said, we'll check a few
things.

Is the target computer always connected to the internet and you're trying to
dial from your remote to your ISP and then connect to the target computer or
are both computers dialup?

Sure you're using the right (Public) IP address?

Are you getting a specific error message?

Are you trying to connect as an Administrator or Limited Account?

Is IIS services installed and enabled?

Is your firewall enabled for ports 3389 and 80?

If using a router, are the ports forwarded correctly?

Have you tried a port scan from somewhere like www.grc.com to check your
ports?

Is file sharing enabled?

Let us know.

yes and it's awesome and easy to use, but not as cheap as they promise it to
be when you first sign up!
