Any feedback on HP C6100?

My brother is contemplating purchasing an HP Photosmart C6100. Can anyone
give me experiences good or bad with this printer? I've seen the literature
& stuff and know the features. We are looking for feedback on performance,
likes/dislikes.

I went to PCWorld & Found no reviews. I looked under both inkject &
multi-function & it only listed the top 10 in each - no C6100. A search of
the site produced no reviews.

In PCMag I again searched reviews for C6100 and found nothing.

If I am doing something wrong please let me know exactly on those sites how
to find the reviews.

Bob,

a) We bought one primarily to use as a BLACK/WHITE copier. It has
worked fine for that, but we discovered that it QUICKLY USES UP COLOR
INKS EVEN THOUGH WE ARE NOT PRINTING IN COLOR (AT ALL). It would not
allow itself to be run until the color inks were replaced. I don't
know if this is uniformally normal for this general type of printer,
but it is upsetting because we wanted b/w copies and instead we are
having to pay for color inks. Yes, I am extremely sure that we are
only printing/copying in black.

b) Otherwise, it has been great except that I have been unable to find
any way to print to it from Windows 95 -- which I suppose nobody else
wants to do. And, I have not yet been successful getting it to print
from Windows 2000 Professional with (only up to) Service Pack 2.

c) INK PRICES: We discovered that for a combination package of black
plus colors (and including some photo paper in the box), Best Buy was
about $10 cheaper than Office Depot which did not offer that type of
packaging. Additionally, because it is a "combo package" Best Buy
gives a $10 credit toward the purchase of one package of paper --
which is a good deal if you use expensive ink jet paper. Combined
with a frequent buyer credit we get from Best Buy, we saved a lot
which is always a pleasant surprise.
