Anybody has any experience with web based antivirus solutions? For example
Panda's WebAdmin and McAfee's ASaP? We have a small network (around 25 pc
and 2 servers).
How good is it to have little "control" over your antivirus software? In
this case, the web based you don't have to do anything, don't worry about
updates and just log in to their web page to look at the logs. You don't
have to setup a specific server, because every machine can be run
independent from others.
Thank you for any suggestions.

Not a good solution for AV protection.

These are OK for a second check, such as to confirm what your installed AV
software tells you, or to see if you can find something that the installed
AV software missed.

For your small network, you NEED to enforce having, updating, and
(especially) using AV software on each machine -- including the servers.
And just scanning periodically isn't good enough.

The risk of infection goes up at a much higher rate than linear with more
users (twice as many users is far more than twice as much risk of
infection). Since many users are careless, you can't depend on their
'following procedures'. So you need to have an AV package on each desktop
and be sure that you keep it current, and that it's working.

Web-based AV is NOT a solution. It's a tool. And not as good a tool as
workstation protection.

I think Boyd is talking about a different kind of antivirus. Perhaps free
online scan (just an on demand scanner), for example:
http://us.mcafee.com/root/mfs/default.asp?cid=9059

Rob is talking about a full antivirus installed on the local computers, an
is updated from other computers or the antivirus server. Look at:
