Does anyone know any other good antivirus and firewall programs for windows
vista except for Windows Oncare Beta 1.5?

Avast Home Edition and Trend Micro PC-cillin have both been fine. Currently
using McAfee Viruscan 11 - no problem.

PC Cillin is good and also Avast. As for a firewall, Vista's own firewall is
worth using. Zone Alarm, currently, doesn't support Vista.

I was lucky enough to get in on the Norton Antivirus Beta program. I really
like how this new internet suite runs.

I gave up on Norton software years ago. It's a resource hogger and i always
found it caused more problems than it solved.

I tried Norton's IS 2007 beta with Vista B2 and it kinda worked ok. Then I
up'd to RC1 and had nothing but problems. I let Norton's know and got back
email saying they were having major problems with RC1. I now have RC2, but
haven't tried to use Norton's again. I'm using the beta Avast 4.7 Pro and
am very happy. I also used Trend-Micro and it worked ok, but had it some
annoying habits.

I have used Trend, Avast, And Windows Live One Care on my machine.
I try to stay away from Norton, because as John said, it really is a
resource hog, and quite frankly the firewall is WAY too dumb. (Common sense
isn't added into the system, where as programs like McAfee know one program
from the next and will auto accept a program depennding on it's signature.)
I tried trend, but for some reason, the firewall was so restrictive, it made
simply surfing the net difficult (Wondered about resource hogging as well)

I was thoroughly impressed with AVAST!. It works well, doesn't eat up too
much space, the web runs clean, and you can break it down by only using the
Vista direwall, which seems to work quite well.

I was impressed with One Care as well. It was simple, it wasn't restrictive,
never had any issues with it, and most of all, being made by Microsoft, I
knew it would be the most efficient program running on windows. The only
issue will be after the beta mode is done when you have to pay for it, which
if I remember is like 50 a year or something. Not saying it isn't worth it
though..

Hope this helps..
