I have this popping up like crazy and totally taking over my conmputer!!
I have ran my antivirus (AVG 8), I have ran "spy-bot", I have ran "pest
patrol",
I have ran "PCBug doctor"....but nothing seems to help.
does anyone know how to rid a system of this? I have also went into
add/remove programs and its not in there....
HELP!! thanks.....pennie

Malwarebytes did a good job of removing this on a few systems here at work.

Run a thorough scan by doing the following steps:
1... First, try to clean up your caches, Internet files and delete cookies
by doing this:
Click Start >> Control Panel >> Double click Network and Internet
Connections >> Double click Internet Options.
On the IE properties windows you will see these Tabs:
General | Security | Privacy | Content | Connections | Programs |
Advanced
Under General Tab clear your History, Internet Files and Cookies.
Then click on Advanced tab and scroll down to under the Browsing Option:
[&] Browsing
[ ] Enable Third-Party browser extensions (Req Rest) uncheck this box.
Then click on Programs Tab and click Manage Add-Ons and Disable all non
Verified Add-Ons (You should Renable them later one-by-one and see the
culprit and update it or remove it.

If you are referring to usage of MalwareBytes Anti-Malware (MBAM), there is NO procedure that calls for turning off the PC !
Nor for turning off services.

In the cases where malware re-appears, the need is for the victim to get guided help, and to run a series of tools, not just one or even two.
