I use the Antivir personal version (freeware) to protect my PC.
The internet update has always worked very well and fast (I have an
ADSL connection). However it has been very slow for a few weeks, I
have no clue what it is due to. Any idea?

On one of the German sites they say that traffic has increased enormously over
the last few weeks, due to all the talk about worms floating around. It seems
you are stuck in a traffic jam!

Sometimes fast, other times it takes a little while. Depends on time of
day or if there has been a major update. BUT.....The price is right! and
it doesn't slow down my PII 266 like all the others!

I've given up on AntiVir due to the large size of the updates & slow
loading, before the latest delays. Try Avast (www.asw.cz) or AVG
(www.grisoft.com). They're both free & good.

My updates have not been slower. I have a dialup connection.

I have not noticed any change.

I too, use DSL and it is always is fast.

The other day, it took longer than usual but it downloaded a whole complete
program with the updates and loaded that onto my machine. I have no idea
why but it seems to work so I'm happy with it.

weekends are the worst. I have a bband connection and it is painstakingly
slow most of the time. The web site has even been down from time to time.
