AntiVir Guard for Windows and xp

Hello and help...

I have install on a new computer AntiVir Guard for Windows.
During installation all is OK.
After installation, i can not "activate AntiVir Guard " , this option is not
Highlighted and i can not make a virus scan.

Can you help me ?

You must let Anti Vir to complete its very first automatic scanning in order
to get it fully complete the set up process.

AntiVir's control program uses a TCP/IP connection to start/stop/config
AntiVir Guard. Check that your firewall doesn't block that...?

So it seems, it creates a loopback connection between two
ports, and there seems to be a constant flow of trafic
between them.. I have also noticed that when the system
starts there is an extended period of "semi-hang" during
which the AV program is loading, and little can be done with
the system. Any ideas why this is ??
