I have installed the latest version and have the following problem. "The
program runs all scheduled scans, runs all scheduled updates, but no icon
appears in the taskbar. I have it set to load on windows load. How do I get
the icon to appear?
I have done the following:
1. Ran a repair from add remove programs.
2. Removed and then reinstalled.
3. Ran spywear search using adaware
4. Ran virus check

None of these and others helped.

After all that, and assuming you don't have hide the icon set in MSAS General
settings, Tom Emmelot suggests the following workaround;

If that wont work then it is really a XP problem,

I give a workaround for all the missing things in the systray:
Go to:
C:\Windows\system32\
and look for systray.exe, right click on it and make a shortcut
from it, then move the shortcut to the common startup folder:
C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\StartMenu\Programs\Startup\

Restart the computer.

Please let us know how it worked for you, we'd like your feedback.

Hi Dave tried what you sugested, no luck. It is strange it happened when I
did the last Beta update.

Hi Joel,

After the last update, during the scans was anything detected and removed or
quarantined?

Hi joel;
This is a long shot, right click the taskbar, select properties, if Hide
inactive icons is checked, click Customize. Is MSAS set to Always hide in there
by any chance? If it is, set it to one of the other choices. Having that set
to Always hide would give you such behavior.

Strangely, when I did that myself I have multiple MSAS icons listed in that
panel associated with other programs not all of which are Microsoft... weird bug
stuff.

I will try the taskbar thing in the morning. I don't have it hidden in the
settings of Antispywear Beta.
