Hello Cindy;
First, check that you are trying the installation from an account with
Administrator privileges.
Next, check your Windows installation to see if it is corrupted in any way.
You could for instance try running the command: sfc /scannow Is there any
possibility that you might already be infected with malware?
Uninstall from ADD/REMOVE,
Delete in C:/windows/Program files, MSAS subfolders and the MSAS folder;
and delete in
C:\windows\system32 the following 5 files:
GCCollection.dll
hashlib.dll
gcUnCompress.dll
gcTypLibA.
gcAntiSpywareLib.dll
Reboot.
Run a regcleaner (Ccleaner Issues)
http://www.ccleaner.com/ccdownload.asp
Also use the temp cleaner of Ccleaner.
Logged in as the administrator user who will use Microsoft Antispyware,
reinstall Microsoft Antispywªre.
Do a fresh install with version .615 (latest)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...A2-6A57-4C57-A8BD-DBF62EDA9671&displaylang=en
Can you check the Properties of the folder c:\Program Files\Microsoft
AntiSpyware\ on tab Security, to see if its Security settings permit the
other users full access.
When you try to uninstall, you must be logged in as the same local user
(with local Administrator rights) as the user who first installed Microsoft
AntiSpyware.
(Spybot S&D) Tea-timer may be worth avoiding until all else is working.
What build are you running? If it is not 615, go ahead and download it from
www.microsoft.com/spyware
Good luck
