I'm having trouble getting the program to download. No
matter which way I go about it, Windows detects a problem
with the file and refuses to open it. Any ideas?

You might check on whether your ISP runs a caching server. Getting in touch
with their tech support may help.

This can happen if the digital signature for the program
isn't installed and software on your computer is blocking
it.
To resolve the issue, after making sure that you are
downloading it only from the following URL:
http://download.microsoft.com

Download the file, but do not run it, just right click it
and select properties.
On the general tab, select Unblock near the bottom.
On the Digital Signature tab, select install signature.
Now you should be able to run it normally.

try to search on the microsoft site and type for
Antispyware. then find the download for it and see if it
works.even though its going to the same site, just try it
and see

I had to have a Product KEY accepted prior to the
DownLoad..There was a SCAN of my MicroSoft OS..and then I
had to write in a CODE offered after the SCAN..the SCAN
was not fully correct as I had to use the ALTERNATIVE-
SCAN and then my OS was authenticated..I needed the same
SCAN to DownLoad the NEW software for Photo Story 3..I
also needed to Sign-IN to my .NET Passport..
Today I re-installed the Beta for Anti-Spyware and it
runs as before.

At present, the Genuine Windows validation is optional--you can decline it
and still download.

It should also be a one-time process--that is, once your machine has been
accepted as valid, it should remain that way and not require you to key in
the number again, although you will re-download the control.

If you are having trouble getting your machine accepted as "genuine"--I'd
urge you to take that up with the vendor from whom you purchased the
machine--this procedure may be needed more often in the future.
