I have the newest version of the beta program and
everytime I go to scan my computer, I have to reenter the
selections and it doesn't hold my schedules that I store
in it for it to run by itself - any hints or advice?

Hello Candy;

Try these two solutions:

1) You can repair Windows AntiSpyware using Add or Remove
Programs in Control Panel. Click Microsoft AntiSpyware and
click Change. Click Next, and then click Updªte

Then, try these steps:

1) Open up a command prompt (start -> run -> cmd)
2) Type in the following "regsvr32 msvbvm60.dll" (without
the quotes).
3) Close and re-open Windows AntiSpyware

You can go ahead and do both of these--neither has any
downside risk--and see if that does the job. Let us know
whether it does, or nºt!

Good luck

Didn't work. I guess I will put myself a note to start
it every day or so... and wait till the bug is fixed.

hi Candy;

If you decide tu unintall and reintall, remenber the
following steps:

Uninstall from ADD/REM,
Delete in C:/windows/Program files, MSAS subfolders and
the MSAS folder; and delete in
C:\windows\system32 the following 3 files:

GCCollection.dll
hashlib.dll
gcUnCompress.dll

Run a regcleaner (Ccleaner Issues)

http://www.ccleaner.com/ccdownload.asp

Also use the temp cleaner of Ccleaner.

Do a fresh install with version .615 (latest)
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?
FamilyId=321CD7A2-6A57-4C57-A8BD-
DBF62EDA9671&displaylang=en

If you want to try sterner measures:

1) uninstall Microsoft Antispyware
2) delete the installation folder \program files\microsoft antispyware
and all subfolders. You will lose access to any Quarantined items, and
all customizations.
3) logged in as the administrator user who will use Microsoft Antispyware,
reinstall Microsoft Antispyware.

My problem is when you go to erase your tracks sometimes
it says "are you sure you want to erase 18 tracks?" and
other time the 18 tracks goes upto 20 tracks...

Does it know about two other programs that are on my
system and other times it ignore the two programs? What is
up with that???

I think the bug might be the user in this case. A
limited user acocunt that is.

The current release doesn't support multiple-user
accounts, nor limited user accounts. It only supports
the administrator account that installed the app.

The reason for this is the original source code developed
by Giant Company was only single-user and MS made the
beta public only 21 days after acquiring it from Giant
Company. They didn't have the time to do a total
overhaul of the source code, which is needed to change
the app from single-user to multi-user. Not to mention
the amount of alpha (pre-beta) testing needed to be
certain that the updated code works as expected.

As for the scheduling issue, there's a workaround.

First shutdown MSAS by right-clicking on its icon in the
systray and select "Shutdown MSAS," and press Enter when
the warning dialog box comes up. Double-click the clock
in the systray, select an English setting that uses a 12-
hour clock instead of a 24-hour clock. Restart MSAS by
double-clicking its icon on your desktop. Set the scan
time you want to use. You can now change your clock
setting back to whatever it was before. This should
rectifiy the problem.

These two different issues are likely to be addressed
when Beta 2 is released later this year.
