Seems to be worthless, as I am inundated with trojans,
etc., etc. The last scan turned up 38 items which the
AntiSpyware supposedly deleted. Of course it didn't. The
same ones keep reappearing. SpySubtract indicates I
have 'nsvsvc.exe', picsvr.exe', and 'mmod.exe'. And it
isn't much more effective in removing things either.
Anybody out there know of anything that actually WORKS??
Thanks.

Yes, do a full system scan in safe mode, open Microsoft AntiSpyware, on the
scan page, choose Scan Options > Full System scan, make sure all boxes are
checked then click "Run Scan Now".

Microsoft AntiSpyware is targetted at detecting Spyware not viruses, also it
does not detect cookies in this beta 1 release, should be resolved by beta
2.

Restart in Safe Mode Instructions:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/windows/xp/all/proddocs/en-us/boot_failsafe.mspx
Also:
1) Submit suspected spyware report in the tools menu of Antispyware
2) Run antivirus (with current definitions) while you are in safe mode.

how good is a2 personal?
good enough for the average home user?

Have you tried posting your problems
not related to MS AntiSpyware to
news://msnews.microsoft.com

and please don't bother to send me private mail
because I don't check my mailbox regularly

A2 free is good enough for the average home user but they must run it
manually. It has all the signature files that a2 personal does. A2 personal
also has the addition of a resident guard and an anti-hijacker.

.....but is no slower than many AV scans.

I use a2 personal in conjunction with my AV program - and
SpywareBlaster, Ad-Aware, Spybot, Crap Cleaner and now
AntiSpyware (which has found nothing the others didn't) -
and the speed (or manual launching) is not a big deal for
me - especially given the alternative. It is simply a part
of my maintenance routine.
