AntiSpyware permanently disables ActiveX and applets?!

I've installed and have been running AntiSpyware for at least a month now. I
noticed mid-last week that ActiveX controls and applets were no longer
working in IE. This includes Flash and Windows Update other trusted controls.
I checked my security settings and they are as expected: to allow signed
ActiveX controls and all applets in all zones. Anyone know whats going on? I
haven't done any IE security settings changes in months so I'm thinking it
has to be something that AntiSpyware changed. Is there an override in the
registry somewhere that it has changed? I'm not able to log my time in my
companies time-tracking tool and many sites who depend on Flash are not
displaying properly.

Any help is appreciated!

Thanks,
Mark

Although MSAS is Beta, Mark - I seriously doubt that the application is the root
cause of your issues with IE.
Assuming Windows XP and the latest updates applied to IE6, you may want to
consider a repair of IE.

I am actually running Windows 2000. I've done searches for a similar article
for Windows 2000 and I haven't found any. Can you suggest one? Thanks again.

This KB article covers "removing" IE6 from Win2K, Mark;
(Proceed with caution - please read all warnings, etc)

If there is a "repair" option for IE in Add/Remove Programs, use it *first*.

Good luck.

I've figured it out. The problem I was having even caused my "Add/Remove
Programs" dialog to not work. It would report a script error and not display
the program list. After trial and error I figured out somewhat of a solution.
I re-installed IE 6.0 with iexplore6.exe found at the MS Download Center.
Everything began working as expected except that I didn't have any IE
security updates installed and needed to do that. I installed all of the
critical updates and realized the problem was back. After trial and error I
pinned it down to the latest update, something like "Cumulative security
update for Internet Explorer 6.0". Apparently it is breaking my IE. I wish I
could just install specific portions of it, but I don't know how. So it
wasn't AntiSpyware.

Mark - thanks for posting back, sorry to hear that you are having such problems.
Is IE "back to normal", are you seeing any error messages as you reported in your
first post?
