I have a WinXP SP2 Laptop, 128 MB RAM, FAT32 file system,
that has a lot of spyware on it. I load and execute a
scan on the system and mid-way through, the scan halts
(always somewhere in
HK_LM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\
.... remainder is outside the window so I can't see
exactly where). It is reporting 32 threats detected, 350
Memory processes scanned, 0 memory processes infected,
15604 files scanned, 57 spyware files infected, 8381
Registry Keys scanned, 99 Registry keys infected, 0
cookies scanned, 0 cookies infected.

The animation keeps running and the hard drive keeps
indicating activity. After about 5 minutes a Windows
message box pops up indicating "Your system is low on
virtual memory Windows is increasing the size of your
virtual memory paging file. During this process, memory
requests for some applications may be denied. For more
information see Help." If I click on OK, nothing seems
to happen, and it never completes the scan.

Help !!!

I have not seen this problem as of yet... with the Virual
Memory.. your system does meet the Minimum requirments to
run, so my suggestions is try and run the scan in safe
mode to be sure you have enough system processes avalible
to run it.

How long are you giving it to complete after the page file increase message?

Literally hours (4 to be exact), then I restarted the
PC. Also, this was run under safe mode.

Steve:
As a bit more information ... I tried running it again
not under safe mode, and it locks up at exact same spot.
I could see a little more of the path it hangs on. It
is:
HK_LM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\uninstall\
TTool_uninstall.

I can not delete this key, nor can I export it.
