I had Microsoft Antispware installed and working OK. It suddenly disappeared
form the tray and will not reinstall from the download. I have tried removing
the program (using Control Panel), downloading a fresh copy of the program,
and attempted to install. It does NOT install. The Install appears to open
but no program appears. Suggestions?

Thanks. Gene Carson

I had the same problem. My i-pen driver is interfereing but even when I
removed the driver I couldn't reinstall the spyware. I reinstalled Windows
picking the repair the current installation and was then able to install the
spyware program. my i-pen drivers still interfere so I have to pick between
the pen and the spyware.

At this point, I don't expect further changes to be made to beta1. In the
event of a software conflict such as you are seeing with your i-pen drivers,
the choice, I'm afraid, is between not having those drivers, or uninstalling
the beta.

There's a possiblity that you could aleviate the symptoms, perhaps, by
removing the real-time protection features. This is done by the steps shown
in the "workaround" paragraph in this article:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/892375 End users may be prompted to allow or
block administrative actions that originate from a central management tool
after they install Windows AntiSpyware (Beta) on a computer that is managed
by Systems Management Server 2003

This is a pretty big trade-off to accept, and I'm not sure it'll work--but
the hooks that provide the real-time protection are the lowest level bits
involved, and I'm guessing most likely to be involved in a driver conflict.

Beta2 will be very different code, but hearing from folks with showstopper
issues such as you are seeing when beta2 is released will be crucial--we
need to know whether anything like this persists.
