Anti & I blocked an executable file which it said was
trying to attach to the startup in the registry. The name
is: SPR303E.EXE The notice came up as I was uninstalling
RR MEDIC V5.05 from my ISP. Is there any way I can find
out what this program is without runing it?
So far it hasn't hindered other programs from running
normally. Any ideas? Thank you.

A google search comes up with nothing, so I lean towards this not being a
part of some commercially released program, although that's not by any means
a certain test.

If you know where to find this executable on your machine, or can find it
via Search, you can submit it to Virustotal, and perhaps get a reading on it
in that way:

Link in the upper right.

Hey! Thanks, Bill. virustotal.com is now on my favorites.
Fifteen scans and no virus. I still don't have the nerve
to run it. I'm thinking it is part of the program I
uninstalled hanging on so a reinstall can grab it. Maybe
a log, or something? I'm just going to forget it and hope
it doesn't start interfering. Thanks again, Bill.

Another one is http://viruscan.jotti.org

These scanners cannot tell you that a file is safe, just that it is unknown
to the collection of virus scanners and definition dates listed. Antivirus
apps have not traditionally done well at detecting spyware, so no listing
doesn't prove it is safe, by any means.

If that file is on your system, perhaps in a Windows OS related directory I
would recommend renaming it.

Thanks Bill.
Address to this file is: documents and
settings\username\local settings\temp\SPR303E.EXE
So I'll rename it with a 'X' in front. Anti has it
blocked so I don't think it will ever be a problem. Take
care

Anything in that location is fair game for deletion at will--this looks like
either a leftover from some program install routine, or something bad, but
anything in that folder should be able to be deleted without issue, as long
as there aren't installation operations pending completion across a reboot.
I think you've taken care of it.
