Anytime the program connects to the internet (for updates),
the whole program freezes. I can't kill it from windows
taskmanager and I can't shut off my computer. Updating the
definitions locks the program down critically. My firewall
asks me if I want to allow access and I always click "yes,
always" I'm stuck, please help... I know it's a beta, but
seriously.

Hello Sky,

Did you perform a full system virus scan prior to or
after installing Microsoft AntiSpyware (Beta)? If so
what security software do you currently have installed.
There is a nefarious malware application, specifically a
trojan/spyware hybrid, nicknamed the AntiSpyware Killer
and commonly known as TROJ_ASH.A or the following
aliases: PWS:Win32/Banker.J, PWSteal.Bankash.A,
Win32.Bankash.A

Also, see the following link to Trend Micro's Security
Information/Virus Encyclopedia located at
http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?
VName=TROJ_ASH.A

In fact, there are about 8 viruses (most of which are later variants of this
one) which attempt to kill Microsoft Antispyware processes. I have a post
at some time each Sunday in ,announcements with a list. I didn't post last
Sunday because there were no new additions.
