Hi Robindice:
Assuming that your computer is fully updated: Antivirus,
MSAS, OS........
Try this:
Boot into Safe Mode (F8) at startup;
Empty your temporary files AND your Temporary Internet
Files C:\Documents
and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Temporary Internet
Files folder;
Run a full scan MSAS X2 while in safe mode; To select
full scan in MSAS, on the scan page choose scan options >
Full system scan.
If you are running SP2, open IE--->Tools--->Manage Add-
ons, and uncheck any BHO's that you don't recognize.
I've also found that Ccleaner,
www.ccleaner.com, really
cleans out all the Temp files nicely and this is where a
lot of spyware hides out.
Also if using XPSP2 you can <Run> msconfig and go to the
Startup Tab. There you can disable anything you don't
know from starting up. To permanently delete the entry
open MSAS, go to Advanced Tools > System Explorers >
Startup Programs. Select the programs you want and click
permanently remove startup program.
Hope this helps. Please post back to the NewsGroup your
results.
