Does anyone know what the alternatives are when MS AntiSpyware expires on
Dec. 31st?

Are they extending the expiration date again or do we have to purchase it?
Cost?

Hello Jaz:

Last sunday i get definition 7779, and the expiration day is DEc. 31 2005.

Where they post the extencion??

Thanks

Engel

This will also be made available via automatic update in the application, so
we needn't all hurry out to the download site.

Thank you all. Here is the announcement from M.S.

The latest beta refresh, build 1.0.701, extends the Windows AntiSpyware beta
expiration date to July 31, 2006 and provides new signature updates to help
protect against recently identified spyware.

Existing users of the beta (Build 1.0.615) will receive a software update
that includes the new beta refresh. The latest beta refresh is also available
for download through this site.

Thank you Mikolaj

Your welcome, Engel :-)

However there is again the problem with MS servers content replication I
suppose, because what I have downloaded appears to be again the 1.0.615
version (the IE cache was cleaned before ;-) ).

Thanks to you too Bill.

I'll wait for the automatic update, since January i don't have any problems
with WD, and I don't want to start to have it now.

Thanks again

Engel

Hello Curious

From MS (Steve Dodson):
As we have been saying since day one, Windows Defender will be
available at no charge to licensed users of Windows. Users who validate their
Windows install through WGA will be allowed to download the AntiSpyware
beta, as well as the full standalone version of AntiSpyware when it releases
to the web.
This has not changed since Bill Gates announced this information at the RSA
conference in February. The enterprise version of Windows Defender
targeted to companies who want to centrally manage their Windows AntiSpyware
infrastructure. The enterprise version of Windows Defender will be available
for a cost (which has not been determined yet).

If you get the correct download, it will offer to upgrade the version in
place. It is not necessary to uninstall.

I have down loaded the latest update but once it has finished installing the
update it just tells me that anti spyware has expired. It seems that the
latest available at the MS site is the old build. Is this a server problem or
have they stoppd updating:/
