Antialias text on exports?

I'm wondering if there's a way to antialias text when
exporting jpgs and gifs from powerpoint presentations.
The text in my exports seems especially jagged... any
suggestions?

This is going to sound silly, but, if you are running PowerPoint 2002 ...

Make a copy of your presentation.
Remove all the animations from all the slides
Export the file
Delete the file

Trust me, if you have PP 2002 it will improve the quality.

Actually I don't have any animations in these files --
they'll be static jpgs. At least there shouldn't be
animations. My clients are just using powerpoint to
create what eventually ends up as a jpg slideshow.

The jaggy text isn't as bad as the examples I've seen on
other sites of what animation does to these things, but
it still is pretty ugly in the exported jpg.

Have you tried other formats for the export? PNG / BMP

The JPG format causes a minor anti-aliasing cloud around the letters that
uncompressed formats don't.

Also, you want to adjust the File | Page Set-up ... | Slides sized for ...
settings
Triple the size of the horizontal and vertical measurements and export slide
again. You'll see a difference.

In that case, it's probably just that they're a) relatively low resolution
and b) JPG, which is dandy for photos but tends to dog-chew text.

Try creating PNGs at relatively high resolution, then downsample them in an
image editor and save to JPG. That'll give you better results and also give
you more control over the compression level in the JPG. The more
compression, the uglier they gets.

Improve PowerPoint's GIF, BMP, PNG, JPG export resolution

Velda,

What Steve R has said.....export large...then reduce in size.

But...if you only need screen resolution images.
Then a quick "print screen" key of each slide during a slideshow, benefits
from the "anti-aliased" "smoothed" fonts.
Then paste the image into your fav pixel basher (photoshop et al)
