Windows XP Anti Virus Software

This is for information to all here that I received an email from someone I know and it was infected with a worm which the Antivirus software failed to detect. Here is the text that my email program reported:

Viruses found in the attached files.
The file document.pif: Virus identified I-Worm/Netsky.Q. The attachment was moved to the virus vault.

Checked by AVG Anti-Virus.

The first two lines are from the message I received and what follows is the reported action by AVG which is installed at the moment on my computer.

I am not sure who is using Kaspersky AntiVirus but looks like this software cannot detect I-Worm/Netsky.Q

I have recently switched to AVG which is apparently doing its job, I hope

AGV is way better than the comercial stuff like Nortons.
Its funny that something free for personal use is better than the ones ya pay for.
Ya might want to read about antivirus killers thats why its better.
I put AGV on a few PCs that had updated Nortons because the updates ran out, and AGV found all kinds of bad stuff. Whats up with Nortons.

I use AntiVir it works good also. I think AntiVir and AGV are the best.

Protection against Netsky.q was added to Kaspersky Anti-Virus database updates when the worm was detected.

This worm spreads via the Internet as an attachment to infected messages. It is also able to propagate via P2P networks and accessible http and ftp directories. The worm's main component is a PE EXE file of approximately 29KB. The worm is packed using FSG; the unpacked file is approximately 40KB

Kaspersky will Auto-Update every 3 hours ... It cant help users who change this and as a subsequence, get infected. Nor can it help if you willy-nilly use P2P software and download everything in sight.
