Kaspersky and NOD32 in that order.

right now I am beta testing Windows One Care so my Norton AV Corp is on
manual. Personally I dont like AV tools that make you pay them every year
for a "subscription" heck you can go to the store and buy the tool for as
much as the subscription price.

There is no way the MS AV software comes even close to the Kaspersky and NOD32 software.

Hell in the infinite wisdom of Microsoft, the idiots use a virus submission email address
that has a spam filter on it !

I just extracted a zoo to a folder, c:\1 and used the MS AV online scanner at
http://safety.live.com/site/en-US/default.htm and it found out 7 infectors in 11 files.

The following is the report after running an upadated Kaspersky scan...

Gee, I think Micropsoft missed a few ! :-)

Luckily I submitted them all to Microsoft Yesterday. Maybe in two weeks they'll have
signatutres available for the above.

Too may programs ,I doubt you have paid for all the 10.

No matter but keeping an illegal software is more than bad for me and I do
not recommend it.I am not sure ,however.:)

And something else, the more people you ask ,the more different answers you
will receive.

I like and use Panda Software products.
Titanium and the better Platinum ( all them with TruPrevent integrated )
http://www.pandasoftware.com/products
http://www.pandasoftware.com/virus_info/truprevent.htm

No matter what AV you will keep ,make sure it is updated ,scans all files +
compressed and perform full scan at least once a week.

Merry Christmas and Very Good new Year !

Norton AV is far worse !

NOD32 is lighter on resources than both.

Dave: I have used Norton for many years on my home pc. However, I just
this week switched to AVG (Free) and am extremely happy with it. I truly
realize now just how much of a resource hog Norton really is.

If you practice Safe Hex, AVG may be OK. However they are slow to provide signatures and
many newbies who don't practice Safe Hex and are "cheap" get infected prior to the release
of signatures.

The following is a Virus Total report on a a suspect that was originally submitted to AVG on
12/9. As of Yesterday it was still not recognized. Yesterday was my third submission of
this infector to those who failed to recognize it.

This infector masquerades as a patch for MS05-039 "PnP buffer overflow vulnerability"

It is a realistic MS masquerade an the file is actually called -

I have used and tested Norton, Mcphee, Kaspersky and now using Nod32..... I will Share My Opinion? (NORTON)_ ? I liked it but if you have trouble with your pc and have to reformat, after 4 times forget using Norton as you will have to buy a new copy! (M'c'PHEE)_ ? Well it's very good but uses way to much cpu for me.....! (KASPERSKY)_ ? Well it is seems a great program, if you are not a computer Nerd and know your Files, Forget it! It totally currupted my DVD burner & DVD drive from Working, WONDERFUL..... ! But i do at this time would say, NOD32 is the master of anti-virus.... So i hope my opinion has helped you!

Enjoy your pc fun..........
