I found that some AVG kernal wasn't loading at startup and the AVG icon that
showed AVG was active in the bottom toolbar wasn't showing. I found 2 ways
to fix it. One is to open AVG and then click the 'Control Center'. The other
way is to turn off the 'User Account Control" in Vista. To do that, go to
Control Panel/User Accounts/Turn User Account control on and off. Either way
seems to put AVG into Active Mode.

I LOVE FREE AVG!!!

AVG 7.5 is not loading the Resident Shield for me. On the AVG forum, it
states that this is a known bug that will be corrected in the next program
update.

Running without UAC enabled defeats the purpose of this protection which is
why I had to remove AVG. Advice from this site was to keep UAC enabled and I
shouldn't be running with this disabled although I agree it did stop the
error with AVG.

I did disable UAC with the first beta until I read the advice we shouldn't
be doing this. AVG loads when you click control center but many of the
features in the Pro version were disabled for configurations (maybe this was
a UAC bug too)

I've been using avast! Home Edition version 4.7 in my Vista x64 and x86
installations. The install routine will put the correct bit version in place.
4.7 comes with both.
