Receiving "Error 1904. Module . . ." errors when installing MS Anti-spyware
software. Occurs at "Removing back-up files" section of download. After
exiting from error messages (several files), receive "unexpected error" when
trying to start program.

Hi

Typical messed up PC ;)

- Go to control panel "add/remove programs and uninstall MSAS

- Open Windows Explorer and go to Program Files/ Microsoft Antispyware
delete all folders.

- Download CCleaner www.ccleaner.com, clean both files and
issues(registry), note that you can exlude removals. CCleaner is a
safe, just in case.

- Download MSAS again, do NOT run it, save the setup file to desktop.

- After downloading start setup again.

Thanks for the reply, Plun, but we must be really messed up, because it did
the same thing. I followed all directions. I logged in as Administrator
(there are several other login ID's on this computer). Uninstalled, deleted
folder through Explorer, downloaded and ran CCleaner, and downloaded MSAS
again. When I ran it to install it from the desktop, it got all the way
through the install, but returned error messages at "Remove Backup Files"
(several files listed-didn't write them all down). There is a shortcut on
the desktop, but the program won't run (unexpected error, again). This whole
thing started with the W32.HLLW.Anig/NTgina.dll worm. Our local computer
repair shop, after repairing the computer, suggested we install this program
and run it frequently. It installed on 3 other computers fine. This one
appears to be the problem child.

Hi, Plun. Thanks for the quick response. I am using the Corporate version
of Norton Antivirus (I work for GE). I'll try your suggestions and let you
know what happens. Thank you.

The problem is ccleaner doesn't work. It lists a large number bogus registry
entries that MSAS leaves behind ... dozens of them ... and much other junk in
my registry ... and it says it removed them yet it doesn't. Checking the
ccleaner User Forum, others report this same behavior (ccleaner's inability
to change the registry), but the author of the tool has not commented.

Does anyone know of a tool that will remove all the crap MSAS leaves in the
registry that prevents a clean uninstall or a new re-install?
