How does one start an anti-spyware scan after
installation of the Beta. I received the beta from a
windows update last night and it installed but I can find
no icons etc. that allow me to do a scan, set properties
etc. There is no mention of how to operate the anti-
spyware software with the FAQ????

Thanks,
Kent

Hi
You should be able to start AntiSpyware from the following places:
1) Start -> All Programs -> Microsoft AntiSpyware -> then click on the
Microsoft AntiSpyware link
2) There should be an Microsoft AntiSpyware icon on your desktop
3) Check your taskbar. If the real-time protection is activated then you
should find a icon there. Double click on it
4) Go to start and then Run... and enter C:\Program Files\Microsoft
AntiSpyware\GIANTAntiSpywareMain.exe. This works only if you did not change
the default directory and your windows copy is on the C: drive

After you have loaded AntiSpyware, click on Run Quick Scan now

I think that what you got from Win update was the virus scan. It runs once on
your computer and vanishes. (unless it detects something)

you've got it mixed up the one that you've got from
window update was a Microsoft Malicious Software Removal
which remove critical virus if found once you download
and agree with eula it will install on your computer then
it will run a scan quietly on the background
after the scan if it doesn find anything when you restart
or shutdown your computer it will delete the Microsoft
virus removal tools automatically. Also you can check the
mrt.log file if the software was run after installing it
from window update.

antispyware can only be downloaded manually on microsoft
site
