Anti-Spyware to Defender Beta 2 Where did certain things go?

When I was using MSAS I had the ability to always allow always disallow allow
and disallow items. That functionalit seems to be gone. WHY? Also, I had the
ability to set certain parameters within several programs such as home page
settings and other options for IE. Those now also appear to be gone. WHY???
These both were very useful items that I now have to rely on my secondary
spyware platform to function. I have found webroot is OK, but logon scripts
can get around changing these items. Why did these disappear?? MSAS was able
to stop logon scripts from making the changes as I could set the home pages
that I liked and search pages that I liked and then not have a logon script
come by and knock then off to the generic standard IE pages. I could also set
the always disallow change and not be prompted every time. Now I have to go
in and select what I want, accept the change and then get prompted every time
I log in. Please update. Was a great tool until someone decided to dumb it
down and call it Defender. It no longer defends anything.

Oh and I have tried turning off the secondary spyware tool and would highly
not recommend it. With the old product could do that and not worry that
something might go amis. Now if I do that my machine when browsing the web
seems to like to accept changes from just about anything. Never did that with
Anti-Spyware. Just because most of the people out there want something
completely dumby proof does not mean that you should take away advanced
controls. Please put them back in so those of us that know how to use a
computer can still protect it while surfing the internet.

Thanks,
Frustrated

Windows Defender has the ability to exclude a given executable from
scanning, which may take care of your first item--it is in tools,
options--scroll down to find a large box with an add button next to it.

The browser hijack repair mechanism, like the "tracks eraser" feature, has
been moved to Internet Explorer, where it will be available with IE7. A
public beta of IE7 is available now--it can be installed and uninstalled
easily if you have any issues with it, and Microsoft welcomes
feedback--www.microsoft.com/ie

I agree...I miss the tracks eraser...but I wouldn't recommend the IE7...it
still has too many bugs for a beta...froze my system up and couldn't download
anything...kept "not responding" freezing up...pain in the butt...wait until
they've worked out the bugs...I uninstalled it, but not without the help of
their phone support which I had to go to another computer to find...mine
wouldn't surf...

lol, I'm not sure what Mr. MVP is talking about! There is no "brhijack
feature" like the one in MSAS in IE7. Also, he forgot to mention that IE7
doesn't erase anything except IE files, temp, etc. Gone are the
realplayer/windows media/paint, etc....Kinda funny he left that out. Next,
since Defender has no tools for people w/some knowledge on computers I sugest
downloading spybot/spware blaster & zone alarm. www.majorgeeks.com has the
downloads.
