I had removed anti-spyware via Control Panel add/remove suspecting it
interfered with Norton Systemswork 2006 installation ...only to find it was
still installed and still affecting installation of other software. Cannot
find a way to get it removed. No longer shows up in ADD?Remove list.

What to do? Is there a removal tool?

What is your evidence for it still being installed? Do you see active
processes? Are you able to delete the installation folder and all
subfolders? (\program files\microsoft antispyware)

I know of no such conflict--I've run it with Norton Systemworks, as do
others here. Each product will raise dialogs about the other, but it is
possible to run both together.

The antispyware notification of application changes continues to appear
bottom right of desktop ...I user the windows installer cleanup tool to
remove it...so my removal problem went away.

As for the interference with NSW ...I had no problem at all running it with
NSW2005 but ran into troubles big time when I installed NSW2006. Removing
microsoft antispyware did not resolve the problem ,,,,I removed all other
spyware and that didn't resolve the problem and I temporarily shut down
ZoneAlarm and that too had no affect ...eventually abandoned NSW in favor of
alternatives. The NSW2006 problem was with the antivirus application ...it
installed OK but would not scan.

Thanks - that does sound like something didn't get uninstalled
correctly--those popups are pretty distinctive--not much chance you were
confusing them with something else.

I did an upgrade to, I think, NIS2006 on a system with Microsoft Antispyware
in place today. It wasn't very speedy (which is why the user called me for
help)--but it went smoothly, including liveupdate and a full scan with the
antivirus.

Glad you got it cleaned up, anyway.
