Everytime I go into msconfig and disable ms messenger from
startup, antispyware enables it saying it's not a threat. I
don't use MS Messenger and don't need it to run in the
background. Does anyone know how to fix this?

I am not seeing this issue, and I did the following:

1) Open up msconfig
2) Uncheck msmsgs from the startup tab
3) I get a pop-up from MWAS stating the registry change is allowed
4) I restart
5) MS Messenger does not appear
6) I reboot just to make sure
7) Still no MS Messenger

Can you give me the steps which are not working for you?

Why not just disable MS Messenger?

Start Messenger and go to Tools > Options > Preferences
tab. Uncheck "Run Windows Messenger awhen Windows
starts" and for good measure I also unchecked the
next "Allow Windows Messenger to run in the background".

.
try to disable messenger from starting when windows starts
up, by unchecking the option in the messengers option menu
