Antenna aiming for wireless router

I have a 10/100 Mb home network with two desktop computers, a cable
modem and a Linksys wired router. I bought a Belkin wireless router
(part # F5D7230-4) and a Belkin notebook card (F5D7010) so that I
can network my new laptop computer. (Both 802.11g)

I am having problems keeping my desktop and my laptop connected.
When they are in rooms about 35 feet apart. The Belkin wireless
router has two antennas. Does it matter how the two antennas are
orientated in relation to the direction to the laptop?

For example which of these would work better:

R

L
The direction of the laptop is perpendicular to a line run between
the two antennas.

or

R
| | L
The direction of the laptop is on a line run between the two
antennas.


(R=router L=laptop |=antenna)

Yes it does matter, but probably not very much. If the devices are all
on the same floor, then the antennae should be vertical and you can
experiment with rotating the router.

If the devices were vertically separated then you could experiment with
the antennae horizontal.
