Antec Sonata front panel ports

The firewire/USB/audio ports on the Sonata case seem to support only
cards with headers specifically designed for connecting to the front
panel. Has anyone tried connecting to these ports by soldering header
pins to their cards?

What brand firewire card works with the Sonata case?

I think the idea is to buy a motherboard with the proper headers. I've only
seen one firewire card available with internal header pins. Directron sold
it, but it has been discontinued.
