answer--'Save Picture As' only option is bmp

and the answer is....
after [save picture as] goto directory and rename the
*.bmp to *.gif
you will get dialog window ....pick [ok]
you can also rename *.bmp to *.jpg

This is a problem with Outlook, OE, IE, and is related to web site content

It also applies to JPG files

I think Yahoo does this on purpose, the problem is after leaving the site the planed effect can stay

I think the web sites want to "copy protect" their pictures

Resetting the cookies cures the problem with other sites, it does nothing on the site were the offense occures. I have had to open the page for editing to be able to save a JPG file

I will MS would fix this hole in IE OR someone tell me the non-IE browser to use to avoid this.

It is not a way of copy protecting it but most of the time you have a
damaged object. To see these object go to Control Panel-> Intenret Options->
tab General-> button Settings...-> button View Object... An Explorer window
will pop-up. In this window delete all objects that consists of long
numbers; these are damaged. Restart your computer and see if you can save as
jpg now. If not; please revert to an Internet Explorer newsgroup.
