Hi

My new Epson 4180 is doing a great job on regular slides - over 500 scanned
in the last few days.

I have a few old Anscochrome slides that are too big (by a hair at 2 3/4"
square) to fit into the medium format holder.

If I just put the slide in the middle of the bed, the preview and the
resulting scan are very dark.

Can this scanner handle Anscochrome?

Should I cut the slide mount to fit the holder?

Try cutting out a black mask in the same outline shape of the holder that
has an opening to fit your slide. I think your problem is that the scanner
cannot calibrate correctly since it doesn't recognize the holder and its
calibration notch.

I can't say about the 4180, but my LS40 certainly could.
