So I found out that me and my cousin both have the win32 tenga virus. I managed to format and remove the virus, however, he cannot logon windows, repair or reinstall windows because it doesn't detect his harddrive...

however when he is at the welcome screen, i can see his shared files (which aren't many), and he doesn't have the remote admin enabled so i cant remotely access his registry

i've run into a dead end, any responce would help a lot! thanks guys

Hmmm, DOS has not got a clue over XP drive system. I take it we are talking about XP?

How did you "format" the drive ... and still see a welcome screen, but no HD ... err, impossible??

Can you tell us what you actually did to the PC ?

You are correct, it is a winxp os

I did not format the drive, I am trying to reformat using the winxp cd...but it does not detect the harddrives (either of them, there are 2 acting as 1)

also tried the floppy msdos startup disc and C: is an invalid disc as are all other drives except the floppy

and yes, i can still see the welcome screen but setup does not detect a hard drive when trying to reformat

still confusing ... no details

Question time ...

Is the PC a branded PC, ie ... Dell, PCWorld, Comcrap, HewletCrapard or some such beast ?

Can you give me any specification of the PC ?

If you are indeed using two HDs as one, then we call that RAID and I would suspect one HD has failed.

The pc is not a branded PC but hand built

1 gig of ram, radeon x800xl, 2 western digital 250gig HDs, (dunno the mobo, i left from there today but i think its an asus board with an amd x2 processor)

And no, he is not using RAID. He had the harddrives combined to make 1 drive that is 500GB.

He has another HD, and I think he's going to try setting it up as the master and the other 2 as slaves and formatting/repairing them that way.

If he runs into problems again, I'll let you all know, thanks!
