Another tough dual boot question

I have two HDDs. One (500G)is loaded with Vista business as a clean
installation. The other one (170G) is loaded with XP pro. Currently I
have to connect the cable to individual HDD to boot. If I want Vista,
I will connect the SATA cable to drive 1. If I want XP, I would
connect the cable to drive 2. (don't ask me why, it's a long story).

Swapping cable made me feel old already. Is there anyway I can connect
both HDD to the system simultaneously? I afraid that if I boot up XP,
it will screw up the Vista boot.

I used to do that to dual boot XP and Windows 98. I just went into
BIOS to disable one HDD. But for this newer system (Intel DG965SS),
the BIOS does not allow me the disable a drive. I have to physically
remove the SATA cable.

Couldn't the OP have both drives connected
and change the boot drive at boot by entering the
BIOS settings. I confess that I know nothing about
SATA drives.

(ps Have you noticed Vista R's new tag yet ?)

Perhaps, but that is still rather clunky in my opinion--if a more fluid way
is possible.

(do you mean "Jonathan Schwartz 2"--have you not seen my 'replies'? Or is
there yet another one?)

Which ever way the OP goes he should be warned of the
way XP treats Vista's restore points.
When I tested the R versions I did a dual boot
changing the Boot sequence in BIOS and never lost
any Vista restore points.

(ps. yes that's it. Have just caught up with your answers/posts)

When I dual booted, I never lost any Vista restore points either.
But maybe that has more to do with not having any in the first place.
;-)

(keep me informed if you notice any new ones--I wonder if he looked up the
definition of "Legacy"?)
