Going crazy

Just seen message from Phil - I also have a strange
toolbar.Mine leads to lop.com. Link on page says I could
have downloaded and installed one of their software progs
and agreed to this becoming my search engine. (Does anyone
read the small print?) Another link said uninstall prog
may be 'downloaded here', which I did - toolbar gone but
lop.com still pops up any time I search.
It's driving me up the wall. Please help.

Browser hijacking parasite and one of the nastiest.

Be very careful removing this parasite or it will leave you without an
Internet connection.

Best way is get Ad-Aware and update to the latest reference file.
Select all items detected and remove.
You may have to reboot and rerun to completely remove the nasties.

Get SpyBot Search & Destroy and update to the latest reference
file.

SpywareBlaster to prevent these nasties installing.

You should update and run this at least once a week.

To see the answers for this many many times asked question read:

try going to start and run. Then enter msconfig. Click
the startup tab. Scroll down till you find the lop.com
line, then click the box to uncheck it. Then note the
registry entry. Go into the regedit program (if you know
how to use it) and either search for lop in the registry
or go to the key denoted by the entry in the startup
line. It should be something like microsoft\program
files\common\microsoft\run or the like. Delete the value
once you find it in the registry, then close the registry
edit mini window. Also you might try going to control
pannel, add/remove programs and see if lop.exe shows up.
If so, delete it. Hope this may help. I too am getting
sick and tired of Microsoft selling error full software
and I also hate people who damage other peoples
computers. I am writing a piece of software that will
totally destroy a computer once the source of the popup
is found. Then no more popups from that company or
person. Enough is enough !!
