Hi
I have suddenly developed a problem (all was ok a few days ago)
I am able to play mp3s and movie files and listen to music in games (but not
other noises like voices).
I cannot hear any system noises, sounds in Flash, or sounds
from certain programs like ICQ or my sons communication program, also cant
play .mid files. I am running Windows XP Home
Edition, and I have the latest version of cmedia AC97 drivers installed.
I have no conflicts or exclamation marks in hardware profile. Ive
reinstalled the soundcard drivers and restore doesnt help no matter how far
back I go. Ive searched the net for an answer but can find none and we really
need to use my sons software : (
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

First try MVP Kelly Theriot's "Where did my sounds go" from:
http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/top10faqs.htm

If that doesn't work, buy a PCI soundcard (you can get a basic soundcard
for as little as $25usd). Disable the onboard sound from the BIOS and
use the PCI card instead.
