Another problem with 100% CPU usage

Like many others, I have tried several cleaning and anti-virus programs to remove spyware and to check if something else is causing CPU usage at 100%. These solutions have not worked. On my machine I am getting svchost.exe as the culprit and if you search knowledge base there is a known issue on W2K with this and MS suggests going to the RSA site for a solution. I can not find it and would it be applicable to XP

Help as this problem is a big hassle

Thank
Mac

Hi,

If you boot into Safe Mode does the problem go away ?
It is highly likely that some sort of background program
is causing this.

Have u run adaware/spybot/and hijack this?
Mostly the antivirus program will not pick up the spyware
on your system that is causing the 100% cpu usage thru
svchost.
Google the above and download or go to cnet.com and
download there.

Thanks for your reply. I have tried adaware, spywareblaster, spybot, MacFee Stinger and Symantec Removal tools. In addition I have run Macfee AV Proffesional and Panada Platinum 7. However, when I try to start any AV software it shuts down straight away. In addition, my CPU is still running at 100%

Any more thoughts

Thank

Mac
