I have a small network (Five PC's) Three PCs running XP Pro and
another two PC's Running Win98

I have shared Printer (HP 1300 - USB Port) and it has been available
for all five computers .

I have another printer (HP 1100 - LPT1 Port) I have shared this
printer but it has been appear only for XP operating systems and did
not appear for Win98 Systems.

So both printers are physically connected to one of the XP boxen? Or are
you running a print server? Assuming the HP 1100 is not connected to
any of the Win98 machines, did you install it on the Win98 machines?

I'm not a printer expert, but you have to install the printer on the
Win98 computers and if they are First Edition, you may have a problem
because FE didn't do USB very well. I believe you have to install the
printers locally on Win98 so the drivers are there. Or you might try
buying a print server.

See this webpage by MVP Cari about networking printers with older
operating systems:

http://www.coribright.com/Windows/Article Six.htm

And here's a website by MVP Bruce Sanderson on printing that might help:

Good luck,

As I said, I'm not a printer expert and you should go to the sites I
recommended for help. When you say "installing network printer from
Win98se" are you using the Add Printers function or actually installing
with HP's installer program? I would try the latter, installing the
printer locally if necessary. Otherwise, check the sites I gave you and
HP's tech support.
