Another ? on putting narration in

In the Narative timeline, start narration screen, I see where there are
options other than microphone for auto input device. What is line in and is
can I use that to put narration that is being recorded into this project?
 
Line-In would be used if you have an audio device plugged into the Line-In
jack on your sound card.
For instance you can plug a stereo or tape player into the Line-In jack and
then use this option to record whatever you play on the stereo or tape
player. It is also used for recording the audio portion from an analog
camcorder.
