Another Installation is already in progress

I downloaded MSAS - it expired 7/31/05 - went to site to
download newer/greater and get the following message.

Another installation is already in progress. Complete that
installation before proceeding with this install. Have
tried to uninstall MSAS but get the same error message.
Anyone have suggestion?

The first thing to try is to restart Windows.

If that files to clear the situation, then you need to try the Windows
Installer CleanUp utility. Report back if you need that.

I cannot get windows to restart and I tried the Windows
Installer CleanUP utility - get the same error message

What? Surely you must be able to restart the PC. If you do not restart the
PC, that is why you have uncompleted installations.
 
If you cannot get Windows to restart, try:

1) close all applications.

2) press the power button once.

See whether that starts a successful shutdown

3) if the above doesn't work, press and hold the power button for at least 4
seconds.

Then restart the machine by pressing the power button again, after waiting a
few seconds.
