I have a working knowledge of excel but not to great on if
formulas. I need a formula that if A1 is equal to or
greater than 40, then B1 is 40 and if A1 is less than 40
then B1 is same as A1. I know its probably a simplistic
formula, but I can't put it down correctly. Thanks much.

still looking for the right formula, unfortunately this
one does not work. Also, I want to copy the formula and
need to keep the value at 40 and it changes from cell to
cell, ie, 40 then 41 then 42, etc. Nice try really
appreciate it. Keep trying, I really need this one. Thanks

If you put that formula in B1 it works quite nicely. If you drag it down
the cell reference changes but not the 40 value. You must be doing
something differently.

"Doesn't work" is not very descriptive.

The formula works fine for me. Also copies across or down nicely without
changing the 40 to another number.

How are you entering the formula?

=MIN(A1,40) entered in B1 is correct syntax.

What results do you get that lead you to believe it is not what you need?
