Another Back up Question

I am thinking of downloading and using the "OE Quick backup" that is offered
by one of you experts. How does this affect how I use my Windows xp Home back
up program or doesn't change it at all? Will I be backing up the rest of my
stuff the same way? This is all new to me,so thanx for your patience :-)
Seems many of us are trying to ace our backup skills!

Aceing your backup skills is one of the most important things you can do
with a computer. More power to you!

The utility you are referring to backs up Outlook Express only. You still
need to backup the rest of your system, using the backup software of your
choice.
 
Okay,so is the "advanced mode" a better route to take when using the back up
& restore utility or just use the back up & restore wizard method?
I am getting sooo confused with all the options there are.. 8-/....I have a
nice new 80G external hard drive set up & ,ready to do its job,but I need
someone to give me some straight talk advise on my back up procedure. I have
read all the links everyone has provided and now am only more confused! Be
gentle....

All that program does is copy things to a new folder at the Root level. It
does not change any file or Registry entry. It is totally safe, even safer
than reading messages in OE because the DBX files are never opened.

Use Norton Ghost and forget all the others. It's quick and simple and one of
the few programs that really work. I use Ghost 9.0. It came boxed with an
earlier version that lets you back up older systems as well. It's available
every where for about $20.00
 
Thanx for all the info. As I am strictly a home user,think I'll try the oe
quick back up tool and use the windows back up utility. Will put the norton
ghost on my wish list!
