Another 100% Processor Usage Question

I have a weird problem with my my processor usage. I have
Win XP Pro, and a relatively new processor. Sometimes the
processor usage is just way high, around 50-95%. This
sometimes happens right after starting up, sometimes it
just starts out of the blue, sometimes it just
disappears. I haven't been able to figure out what
triggers / stops it. I checked from task manager what is
using it all up, and it seems that "System" is doing it.

Ending the process does nothing at all, since it keeps
popping back. I suspected the Sasser worm, and checked
for it, but it's not that. I've checked for all other
possible viruses, and I've come up empty-handed.

Did I miss something?
Any ideas what might be overloading the processor under
System?

Task Manager is useful but you could look at another freeware utility Process Explorer, which provides similar information but adds that little bit extra towards seeing what the running processes represent. For further information about Process Explorer see here:
